R26 DORSET, ANNUAL CONCOURS, SHERBORNE NEW CASTLE

24th June 2007 -  TIME - 10.30-16.00    Must be parked by 12.00

Our concours this year was at a new venue, within the wonderful grounds of Sherborne Castle (there is an "old" ruined castle adjacent). This provided us with a fantastic venue, with all the facilities we needed. The views of the grounds, lake and the castle were magnificent, all kept to a wonderful standard, we recommend a visit if your visiting Dorset at any time.

We paid a £5 entry into the grounds of the castle, with access to the castle at an additional cost. Reports from those who took in the delights of the castle were that it was a to a 1st place standard in concours if it were judged!

Well, the concours was easy to sum up, our event must have only come 2nd to the Southampton Boat Show, as we had more on display and in what seemed deeper water.

Those who attended the concours at this stunning location were to share in a day of heavy rain with that wonderful damp camping feeling! Yet the WAR spirit came out as well as many jokes and words of encouragement.

The members who showed there cars, and more so the judges deserve a spirit of concours award each, well done all. Results at bottom of article. The three concours levels were closely fought yet again, and as before in a good and friendly spirit, ah humbug!

We must say a BIG thank you for the support from those from the Southern region, as well as those who travelled up from the South West region.

Porsche Centre Bournemouth supported the event, by displaying a Cayenne and a Carrera Cabriolet as well as raffle prizes and very damp, yet smiling judges. Thanks also to any others who donated prizes.

Geoff and Colin also helped judge competitor’s cars, they also seemed to have there own competition of wet weather clothing going on, fashion, where!

To be honest the rain dampened our spirits, but only for a short time, we all enjoyed the cars displayed, the competitions entered, the raffle and of course the friendship during the day. And most liked the catering available in the castles café, from cakes to hot meals.
