R26 Scenic Drive - 17th July 2005
Several of us met up at our
usual starting place in Dorchester, at 13.00 we headed of to meet up
with the rest of those attending at Folke Golf Centre. We had three new
cars come along and join in with 6 very keen PCGB members in them. One
new member was particularly grateful of Alan K's skills when his 911
died with a electrical fault, Alan rolled up his sleeves and got them
back on the road.
After a catch up and hello chat the 13 Porsches started the drive
through some lovely country side to Compton Abbas Airfield. We had a
FUEL stop and enjoyed watching the light aircraft taking off and
landing.

Compton Abbas Airfield is open most days, the airfields bar and
restaurant may close earlier than the airfield itself. For more
information call 01747 811767. Compton Abbas Airfield stands on the top
of a hill and is a very beautiful area of the UK. I'm told it is at 800+
feet above sea level, so you need a head for heights before you even get
in a plane!
