The 2nd time for our concours to be set at
this stunning venue, 2006 was the last time. All the worries the committee
members had about low numbers on the day were quickly forgotten as Porsche
after Porsche arrived at the gates of Kingston Lacy House. All keen to pay
their £5 per car, we had 24 cars in total, (that magic number again!!) the
chat, company, teasing and concours were fun and competitive with a few ALL
NEW participants.
The house provided wonderful grounds and a perfect
setting for all the cars. One could also enjoy the gardens and refreshments
available at the cafe within the courtyard setting; just right for that well
needed refreshing drink and a "car related" chat while you rest those
concours aching bones (Sharon!)…….
There were three concours classes, + favourite car. All
placed received a glass tumbler for their hard work, please enjoy some of
the moments captured above.
I was fortunate enough to be judged 1st in
the pride of ownership class. Kevin Bush won the novice class with Jason
Ramsden was victorious in the visitors class. Our newest member (John
Wilson) won the favourite car. Not forgetting to mention that this was
Kevin, John and Sharon’s 1st concours, Sharon came a close 2nd
in the novice class, well done all who put all those long buffin hours in!……
I think one or two might fall by the way side now they know the effort
required to get the silverware!
Well that’s enough about rubbing and buffin!…… the day
was also a great opportunity to chat and share all those silly stories we
all can share when sat on a picnic rug, eating a sticky doughnut, I came
away from the event recharged, as so many of those attending seemed
re-booted and wanting to take R26 onwards and upwards. I was also impressed
to see Troy there, his 2nd R26 meet in one week, keep it up
Troy…..
A special “well done” must go to Geoff for sorting the
judging, as well as his helpers. Also all those who helped erect the gazebo
and R26/Porsche flags.
So all in all a yummy, glittering arches, silky soft
event, in the baking sun, with tea, cake and trophy’s wonderful, well done
again the R26 committee and helpers, consider you have had lots of pats on
your sunburnt back! Thanks too for those who supported us by travelling down
from Swindon, also the R17 members that came along to boost our ranks as
well as win some of the glassware.
Where will the R26 concours be, watch this
space……………………………….......
