Wow, Porsche n Polo, an event I
had wanted to attend for 4 years, and finally managed the time to attend.
We had an event free drive up, the grounds were a little bit hard to
find, found the far side of the beautiful village.
On arrival the organisers had it all under control and a race to
the loo's was in order.
The Carole Nash promotion girls were an added bonus, the walked round
all day with goodie bags and a very nice smile. . . .
I had entered my 996 Carrera 4s into the street class concours, judging
to start at 10.30, fortunately I had until 11.34
to prepare my car to be
judged. Each entrant took there place driving into the judging area
where three PCGB experienced judges (Steve
Bull, Tony and Harriet Shannon) put each Porsche though its polished
paces.
The Kirtlington Polo club grounds were in excellent order, and the
facility's were very smart, and the bar came in very useful not only for
a drink but to escape the sun for a while.
It was very nice to see the event was a family affair, many families sat
sharing a picnic, I was honoured to share one family's champagne and
strawberry's, very nice to, thanks Gordon. I even saw one region had set
up a table, with table cloth and candelabra, respect that commitment.
The concours entrants were all in good spirit and all cursed (a little)
as any car or horse box drove by kicking up the dust from the track,
ouch, aren't we a little sad! Having said that ALL the cars entered were
presented at a very high standard, we all enjoyed viewing each others
Porsche's.
There were naughty burgers and chips available, but I must say I was a
little disappointed that I was too big for the bouncy castle slide!
I was so pleased that my car was awarded a 3rd place in the street
class, I was over the moon as you just never know where your Porsche
might be placed, as everyone's car's look so pristine.
A special thanks to the Kirtlington Polo club for hosting the event and
region 16 PCGB for running the car show part of the event. Also all the
PCGB members who gave up their time to judge, give members advice, and
put up the various event structures for judging and hosting the club
officials. Also a thanks to all the event sponsors and those who came to
support the event by selling their Porsche related merchandise.
