14 cars and their occupants set out for the event from
Dorchester football club, no rain, but angry trees spitting sap
out at Gillian and Tara and they pose in the topless Boxster. We
all enjoyed an event free drive to Poole. Once there - wow, cars
arriving, phew, no rain, and wow again, as 98 Porsche filtered
in!
With the offer and support from Poole Tourism we arranged to
support PQ08, our forth time supporting this prestigious event
with Porsche owners coming from all over the country. As long as
the car had an “official” Porsche badge on the bonnet and boot,
you were invited to the party.
Like minded enthusiasts enjoying an evening together. Some had
heard about the event at the last minute and rushed home, washed
the Porsche and headed down to the quay.
Another overwhelmingly successful Poole Quay event. Anne Simpson
who manages the event shared her interest and excitement as the
cars just kept arriving. You could see Porsche for as far as the
eye could see; from the start of the quay to the very end, with
the majority of the cars parked outside the Thistle Hotel.
The DORSET Region was expecting anything from 80 to 100+ cars,
and with the beautiful sunny evening we did worry that too many
might attend, and some would have had to end up “in the quay”.
(the overflow car park)
Wonderful cars were parked along side small boats and yachts,
that wouldn’t have looked out of place moored at
Monaco.
As you will see in the event pictures we had almost every
different road going Porsche model on show, we even had a green
GT3RS as well as seeing Christine’s 911 Turbo in full bloom in
the
Dorset
sun, getting a lot of deserved attention.
Almost every variation of Porsche “owner” enjoyed the event.
From the one’s you can’t shut up with boyish excitement (could
that be me?) those who rev up, to those who turn up, park up and
enjoy the view. All viewing the boats while enjoying a coffee /
beer at one of the Quay’s many coffee / bars / pub’s.
I for one, I enjoyed some interesting and jaw dropping
conversations with Gillian and family, to think that as a young
teen all I knew about was action man and what Barbie might see
in him!
The varied conversations, ages and sex of members proved that
PCGB isn’t just any club, this is a cream latté filled Porsche
club. Once again a true “family event” with many children
attending.
Adults and children alike, loving the spectacle of all these
Porsche sports cars in one place, what an adult’s candy shop,
chewy, sticky, drum stick heaven!
That’s the joy of an event like this, everyone can come and
enjoy the event in the way they wish. Proving that PCGB isn’t a
stuffy MEN ONLY club.
Poole Tourism did a wonderful job in arranging the cars along
the harbour front and managed the whole event smoothly. As we
left the Quay at 9pm we were pleased that Anne Simpson (Special
Events Manager from Poole Tourism) asked if we could run this
event again, PQ09……. She went on to say that she has never seen
so many viewers (public) attend a car event at Poole Quay with
such interest and as before, she was extremely pleased and
impressed how the evening went.
Please enjoy a few pictures from the event. Members and public
share stories of Porsche ownership and their involvement in
PCGB. Roll on our next Poole Quay, PQ09 . . . . . |
