The
venue was the Popham Air Field just up the A303 from Andover towards
London. Hundreds of cars and motorcycles were on display, these ranged
from the very first cars that hit our roads all those years ago to BIG
black
American hearse that may have delivered Elvis to his resting place.
Porsche had one of the biggest displays there and was a beautiful sight
to see, many visitors who braved the rain enjoyed viewing all the
different Porsche cars on display.
|
The numerous trade
stands sold all sorts of bits and pieces for those attending to buy
and view, there were also fair ground rides to enjoy. This is just a
small list of waht was on offer. |
|
Books, pictures,
sketches and mags |
| |
Models and craft ware |
| |
Overalls and uniforms |
| |
Aircraft parts and
disabled (hopefully) munitions |
| |
|
And best of all, hot
drinks, doughnuts and burgers! |
Unfortunately due to
very heavy, non-stop rain at Popham, I negated my opportunities to walk
round in the heavy rain taking pictures for the site, the only pictures
I have are us travelling from Weymouth, Dorchester and finally Blandford
to Popham.
As you will see in the
5th picture the heavens were just starting to open up on
our very cleanly prepared Porsches.
All of us that travelled
from the Weymouth / Dorchester area were able to get into designated
Porsche parking and had a great time sharing Porsche stories under the
R17 Hants, Wilts and Dorset Gazebos.
It was a real shame that we couldnt share our cars in more detail with
each other, the driving rain limited what we were able to do, all those
hours of cleaning, life can be very stressful!
